TUESDAY TRAVELER - Christmas 2015 With Family

Oh, the joy of spending Christmas with toddlers.  Christmas 2015 was another special day; it would be the first Christmas for Weston, the youngest of my three grandsons.  Grayson, his older brother, and their cousin, Oliver would have grandpa's undivided attention.

I arrived to the NC home of my oldest daughter, Danielle and her husband Nathan (Oliver's parents), a few days before my middle daughter, Amanda and Casey (Grayson's and Weston's parent), as well as my sister Sheryl.

With a couple extra days before the rest of the family arrived we took one day and went to the Greensboro Science Center.  This is designed for children and features aquariums, a small zoo, and petting area.  Great place to visit.

Our original plan was to take my three grandsons to ride the "Polar Express" train exhibit at the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer NC.  As life would have it, Amanda's flight was changed and they didn't arrive until after our scheduled train.  Maybe one year, we'll try again.

When we arrived back to the house, Aunt Sheryl was there.  The next hour consisted of putting Oliver in bed and chit chatting.  About 2245 hours Danielle and her husband Nathan, went to the airport to pick up the remainder of the crew; tired crew I might.

With grandpa, all the grandsons, their parents, and aunt together it was time for a professional photo-shoot.  Danielle had arranged with their photographer and two days before Christmas we went to the High Point, NC Train Station.

The weather was chilly and raining.  We met Yasmin, from Yasmin Leonard Photography at the train station.

MIKES NOTE:  If you're in the Greensboro NC area and looking for a professional photographer, contact Yasmin through her website (linked above).  Super friendly, great with toddlers, and a great photographaer.

Yasmin orchestrated the entire shoot, arranging adults and children for the best shots.  She took our input and worked with us on specific shots we, as a family wanted.  Super job, Yasmin.

And of course, I pulled out my camera and took a few shots.

Christmas Eve was spent with the family and no matter how much I bribed, pouted, and tried to coerce the grands, they didn't want to listen to grandpa read or tell them a Christmas story.  Oh well, Grayson, Oliver, and I tracked Santa Clause for a while before they went off to bed.

Ho, ho, ho; Christmas 2015 has arrived.

As is customary in our family the children hand out the gifts.  First came the stockings hung above the fireplace with care.

Then came the fun stuff, the big stuff, the stuffed that makes noise and brings smiles to children and tears to adults.

Christmas complete, it was time to wait for New Years to arrive.  In the meantime, Amanda with her family returned to North Dakota and Aunt Sheryl went home to Florida.  I, on the other hand remained.

Danielle and Nathan went out for dinner on New Years Eve, leaving grandpa and Oliver at home to eat mac and cheese, watch Disney shows, and go to bed before the blasting of fireworks.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  I hope everybody has a safe, prosperous, bountiful, and happy 2016.

Until next time,
Mike
